[accordian] [toggle title=”Scholarship Program” open=”yes”]Since 1999, Help Us Help The Children has been aiding orphaned children and those deprived of parental care, an opportunity to receive a higher education in Ukraine. Through financial aid in the form of a stipend, these orphans are able to receive the financial and social support needed to complete their degree. They are also provided with clothes, shoes, educational supplies, transportation and other basic necessities. [/toggle] [toggle title=”Facts”] Only an estimated 10% of orphans graduate from universities or professional schools. Out of those, only 27% of orphans find work after graduation. Through our cooperation with 200 orphanages across Ukraine, we have discovered that many orphans encounter difficulties with social adaptation and social integration. This problem is magnified when the orphans complete their term at the orphanages or boarding schools, and are left to fend for themselves. As a result, most of the orphans who take it upon themselves to reach the level of post-secondary education often end up dropping out of college or university. Most others do not even attempt to pursue a higher education due to financial impossibilities.[/toggle] [toggle title=”Costs”] The approved budget for 2013 is $1,550 Canadian dollars per student, per year. To receive a Bachelor’s Degree each student has 4 years of study. The total budget per student is $6,200 Canadian dollars. The scholarship covers students’ medical insurance and living expenses, including books, clothes, stationary, transportation, personal expenses and pocket money on a monthly basis.[/toggle] [toggle title=”Our Success”] HUHTC has played a crucial role in aiding orphans obtain a post-secondary education. We are proud of all of our students, and all our graduates, throughout the years. It is beautiful for us witness these children grow up and become fully functional, educated citizens, with careers and families of their own. It is always an added pleasure when our graduates come back as helpful volunteers, aiding other children along the same path. [/toggle] [/accordian]
